Hi there and thanks for stopping by!

My name is Justin and this website is a testament to pursuing dreams over reason. It remains to be seen whether or not this is a good idea. ;)

I'm giving up a job I enjoy, a six-figure income and a nice, comfortable existence to pursue.... something else. Something undefined. I know it's out there, but just don't know where "there" is.

So to sum up - I don't know what I'm looking for or where it could be. Yeah... this is going to turn out great.

The current plan, if you can call it that, is to just travel. No real itinerary, no destinations. Just get out of the comfort zone and see what happens. I've put some money away over the years and I have a few website businesses, so there's really no return date in mind. I do have a laundry list of things that I want to see, learn and experience. If you've seen the list, you know this could take some time. I'm in no rush.

I plan to slow travel my way around. For starters, it tends to be cheaper than jumping from place to place every two weeks. I'll also be doing some online work while traveling (this site among others) so I'll need somewhere to set up shop for a while. Hopefully I'll get to know the places and people better this way, too.

This website's purpose is three-fold:

First, it's going to document. The doubts, the fears, the excitement (still waiting for this one), the preparation, the research; it's all going to be here. I'm starting it before leaving to hopefully capture things as they happen. My memory is horrible so this is really the only way it's going to work.

Secondly, it's going to inform. The Internet has an answer to almost any question you can think of, but the trick is finding it. I'm going to attempt to bring the usual travel questions and their answers all under one roof. Then we'll work on the not-so-usual questions and answers. My goal for this website is to allow anyone to plan and execute their own RTW (Round the World) trip using the resources found here. An ambitious goal, but I think we can make it happen.

Third, we're going to talk a little about website building, monetization and search engine optimization. As mentioned earlier, I run a few websites already that make a decent amount, but I've noticed many travel bloggers don't monetize. There are many reasons this may be the case and I'll try to address each of these as we go along.

My goal is to offer this site as a case-study of sorts for those interested. I am not an Internet marketing guru and I'm still learning things every day. That being said, I know what has worked for me in the past and there will be some posts about that for anyone interested.

What this website isn't:

As you may have noticed, this website isn't using wordpress, blogger, blogspot or any of the other blogging platforms out there. That was a conscious decision which I'll explain in a later post. On the backend, this website was created with SBI (Site Build It!) which I've used on all of my previous successful websites. There are pros and cons to doing it this way, but in terms of search engine optimization; I can't imagine going any other route. Probably more of a topic for later posts as well. Suffice to say, I credit Site Build It with my online success so far. If I sound like a fan-boy, it's only because I am. I like the stuff that works.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this trip takes me, both physically and mentally. Thanks for stopping by and being a part of this journey!

-Justin
